Deze mag je niet missen! De Shift Talks Keynote 2021 is het hoofd-event van de eerste editie van Shift Talks! In de Sint-Janskathedraal houdt Roman Krznaric zijn keynote speech, gebaseerd op zijn meest recente boek: De Goede Voorouder | Lange Termijn Denken voor een Korte Termijn Wereld. Bij binnenkomst wordt u meegenomen in een muzikaal landschap. Na de lezing gaat host Sophie Stravens met Roman in gesprek. Koop nu je kaarten voor deze onvergetelijke avond.
De speech – Misschien is de hel nu al op aarde, suggereert Roman Krznaric aan het einde van ‘De goede voorouder.’ Dramatische overstromingen, bosbranden, orkanen, epidemieën zijn een feit. Er dreigen alleen maar meer catastrofes als we de gevolgen van ons handelen op lange termijn blijven ontkennen. “Over 50 jaar, over 100 jaar, over 500 jaar zullen er op de verschillende continenten op aarde waarschijnlijk nog mensen leven, werken, liefhebben en dromen. En het leven dat zij zullen leiden zal diepgaand beïnvloed zijn door wat wij nú doen, door de gevolgen van de geschiedenis die zij zullen erven.’’ Hoe kunnen we een goede voorouder worden? Krznaric zal laten zien hoe we kunnen rebelleren tegen onze marshmallow-breinen.
Over Roman Krznaric
Na een jeugd in Sydney en Hong Kong, studeerde Roman aan de universiteiten vn Oxford, London en Essex, waar hij promoveerde in de politieke sociologie. Hij is oprichter van ‘s-werelds eerste Empathie museum, is onderzoeker voor de Long Now Foundation en lid van de club van Rome. The Observer noemde hem een van de prominentste Britse populaire filosofen. Je spreekt Krznaric uit als kriz-NAR-ik. Spreek elke letter uit zonder vrees!

Over Shift Talks 2021
Hoe worden we goede voorouders? Wij zelf, onze leiders, onze bedrijven? Deze vraag staat centraal tijdens de eerste editie van Shift Talks – een meerdaags event van Huis73 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In de dagen na Roman Krznaric’s speech denken bijzondere gasten zoals Jan Terlouw, Sylvana Simons, Jeroen Smit, Herman Wijffels, Merlijn Twaalfhoven verder over zijn ideeën in diverse talks en discussies. Shift Talks vindt plaats van 15 t/m 21 november in ’s-Hertogenbosch.

You don’t want to miss this! The Shift Talks Key-Note 2021 is the main event of the first edition of Shift Talks! At the the St. John’s Cathedral (Sint-Janskathedraal), Roman Krznaric will deliver the keynote speech, based on his most recent book: The Good Ancestor | How to Think Long-Term in a Short-Term World – A Radical Prescription for Long-Term Thinking. At arrival in the Cathedral you will be welcomed by a music performance. After Krznaric’s speech, three guests will take the opportunity to discuss a question with the main guest. The speech – Perhaps the century of hell has already begun, Roman Krznaric suggests at the end of “The Good Ancestor”, while considering the dramatic floodings, forest-fires, hurricanes that lie ahead. If we keep denying the consequences of our actions, we will risk even more catastrophes: ‘In 50 years, in 100 hundred years, in 500 years, there are still likely to be human beings living, working, loving and dreaming across the continents of planet earth. And the lives they lead will be profoundly influenced by how we act today, by the consequences of the history they will inherit. We are their ancestors, and the choices we make – political, environmental, cultural, technological – will inevitably shape their prospects.’ How can we become good ancestors? About Roman Krznaric
After growing up in Sydney and Hong Kong, Roman studied at the universities of Oxford, London and Essex, where he gained his PhD in political sociology. He is a founder of the world’s first Empathy Museum, is a Research Fellow of the Long Now Foundation and a member of the Club of Rome. Roman has been named by The Observer as one of Britain’s leading popular philosophers. His writings have been widely influential amongst political and ecological campaigners, education reformers, social entrepreneurs and designers. Note: Krznaric is pronounced kriz-NAR-ik. Just say every letter without fear!

Huis73 is located just across the street alongside de Sint-Jan, Hinthamerstraat 72-74. Books are available at the signing stand. Roman will join us from approximately 21.45 onwards.
